What can we say about bRUNA and his treasure of a second album, "Thence" (sp24cd, spa.RK 2013)? So full of life, and gushing with light and intelligent hedonism, it was one of the records of 2013, driven up the charts on the back of such raving reviews.
The perfect side dish it’s now here, and which so wonderfully reflects bRUNA’s duality: the precise midpoint between the dancefloor and emotional catharsis. Five remixes of tracks from "Thence" by fellow artists of unquestionable talent who, in one way or another, are part of the booming wave of Spanish electronica that seems to be right at its peak. Alizzz, Cristian Quirante’s project that has gone down a storm in Los Angeles, reshapes “Smell memory” with the help of US vocalist Patrick Baker, an epic tune with hints of r’n’b that drinks from every fountain available as well as others that have yet to come: a ray of light. Henry Saiz needs no introduction: the internationally acclaimed champion of techno and Natura Sonoris honcho has produced a stratospheric remix of “Won’t say it”, with a very 90s flavour along similar lines to his excellent “Reality is for those who are not strong enough to confront their dreams”. Marc Marzenit oozes potential and has brought a Kompakt-esque feel to “You've Been Light To Me". Lost Twin, Seville born but now living in Brighton, has adapted “Closer” to his steamily drifting electronica blended in with nuances of hip hop. And to end the record, bRUNA plays à la Toni Peret in an extended remix of “Magic Tweens” that harks back to the 12” tradition styled in 1985.

I am amazed at how much talent is here in this release. I love beGun and Drömnu songs, and I'm proud Barcelona keeps being a source of new electronic music talents, there's a high level here. Raül Santín
